Heh heh, patron saint of the Internet. That's something new! Well I have to say almost everyone is guilty of worshipping something. For Catholics, well not all of us do that you know. I have never prayed in front of saint statues nor do I worship them. Nowadays I hardly pray to Mother Mary nor Jesus as well. It's just from my mouth to God's 'ears'.
I'll have to say saint veneration has much to do with the old Roman religion of polytheism. The equivalent of this perception can be found in Mahayana Buddhism, where certain unique individuals are venerated as Bodhisatvas (eg. Dharma the Wondering Monk, Goddess of Mercy Guan Yim, All-Knowing Brahma, etc.).
