QUEENS OF PAIN
September 24, 2006
-- THE violent femmes of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby league drew a
crowd on Greene Street the other night as they modeled the latest
Replay fashion line. The crowd, bored of the serious catwalks at 7th on
Sixth, included style expert Carson Kressley and porn stars Savanna Samson and Heather Hunter.
Even the cops got into it by standing on the back of their motorcycles
in order to glimpse above the throngs and bounce to the music of Def
Leopard and AC/DC as spun by "Real World London" star DJ Lars. Some ladies inquired about joining such derby teams as Manhattan Mayhem and Queens of Pain -

Replay Fashion Show
September
19
Tuesday
8:00PM—REPLAY hosts an outdoor fashion show,
109 Prince Street (corner Greene), Italian fashion label REPLAY will
host an outdoor fashion show with the women of the Gotham Girls Roller
Derby. Open to the Public..
I'll be there and so will my derby gals in rollerskates, so check it out!!! -
just got back from the produce and fish markets at hunts point.
started at 3.30 am
interesting last two days
last night i was at the replay office trying on clothes for the fashion show (sep 19)
got an 80's salt-n-pepa style skater chic ensemble (gold string bikini silk jacket & denim skirt)
fast forward a few hours and i'm at the new fulton fish market surrounded by guys with hooks -
this wound is getting harder and harder to clean
sheesh
tonight i am thankful for my unfinished bottle of jamesons
cos hot dangit
i had to consume some alcohol before being able to thoroughly cleanse my wound
doing the closed method, so can't let it scab over
seriously
i now understand why alcoholic beverages can't be banned
and why so many movie scenes are like so
hero takes a swig
cauterizes his own wound or pulls that torn/dead limb off
now i'm worried i'm going to have one big huge ugly ass scar on my leg as if i don't have enough
sweet jesus right
why didn't i frikkin wear long pants????
because i was lazy to bring it
sheesh
i used to be really good at it too...
making sure i'm fully covered..
anyway
shiteous things happen regardless -
Skinned my knee + road rash
Stupid kneepad somehow slipped off when I fell and skidded on the asphalt, came back on of course
but a patch of skin is gone. Man, I am definitely not only accident prone but scar-ridden as well :
.
at least it was or must be quite entertaining to my neighbors when i
yelped sweet jesus christ super loudly in the bathroom while
disinfecting the wound. That stinging pain... sheesh... and yes it's
the typical kids' fell off the bike on the knee boo boo. i remember
having so many of them growing up. was telling GoGo the best part is
when they heal cos then your knee smells like burnt meat.. har har
har.. yes i've smelled my scabby knee before :p -
argh, can't believe i'm another can't bout due to a wedding
so now that we've been out of luck trying to find a bouting space, we
decided to piggyback on another league, Long Island to share their bout
venue with us. All good till I found out the date, September 23,
Juliette's wedding. gah. no worries hon, I'll def be there, but I'm
worried about my team, we're down a lot of people already, it sucks : -
we lost
dude
i only played 3 jams
2nd to last on the first period and 2 &4th to last in the 3rd (last) period
so can't say i was very effective or even knew how well they stack up.
bummed but whatever
i hate rigid lineups tho
i mean it makes more sense to rotate players so
a) some heavy playrs don't get tired
b) see how people fare in diff positions against the competition
c) throw in some element of surprise for the other teams
but people liked my ballerina on crack look
..
look who came with me on the trip
