  • Canada troops battle 10-foot Afghan marijuana plants

    http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/americas/10/12/canada.troops.marijuana.reut/index.html

LOL.. apologies to the copyright laws but I just had to post this in its entirety...

OTTAWA, Canada (Reuters) -- Canadian troops fighting Taliban
militants in Afghanistan have stumbled across an unexpected and potent
enemy -- almost impenetrable forests of marijuana plants 10 feet tall.

    General
Rick Hillier, chief of the Canadian defense staff, said Thursday that
Taliban fighters were using the forests as cover. In response, the crew
of at least one armored car had camouflaged their vehicle with
    marijuana.

"The challenge is that marijuana plants absorb energy,
heat very readily. It's very difficult to penetrate with thermal
devices. ... And as a result you really have to be careful that the
Taliban don't dodge in and out of those marijuana forests," he said in
    a speech in Ottawa, Canada.

"We tried burning them with white
phosphorous -- it didn't work. We tried burning them with diesel -- it
didn't work. The plants are so full of water right now ... that we
simply couldn't burn them," he said.

Even successful incineration had its drawbacks.

    "A
couple of brown plants on the edges of some of those [forests] did
catch on fire. But a section of soldiers that was downwind from that
had some ill effects and decided that was probably not the right course
    of action," Hiller said dryly.

One soldier told him later: "Sir, three years ago before I joined the army, I never thought I'd say 'That damn marijuana'."

can't wait to see her pic :) :)

    i want a baby panda :D
    yes stuffed is ok
actually i saw a really cute big pink gund bear at fao
    imma get that instead...
yes at some point i'll need to grow up...
but whatever, while i don't have to yet...

  • of course i had to fall on my bad arm...

went to team practice, skating at central park at night
    not a very smart idea
anyway on the first hill, i was texting my baby earlier so had lost
sight of the girl, zoomed down neck craning to see where they went hit
a crack of sorts, tripped and fell, tried my best to brace myself with
my wristguards but still fell on my left forearm. and of course i
didn't wear my elbow pads cos i was like oo it hurts to take it off,
whateva... lazy bones, so now i have a scrape and my shoulder hurts
more.. at least it was an opposite directed force... anyway... central
park skating at night is scary. i don't know the terrain and some of
the downhil goes on for awhile. thatnk god there weren't a lot of
people cos felt like i was going out of control. fast but with no real
braking abilitites than to fall.... oh yeah skating to donna's parked
car going down madison was just as scary with all the #$*@#&$^
    cabs...
anyway... i live to see another day somewhat intact...
    .
    that said..
